Caleb Plant revealed his three-match on opponents he wants for his next match. ‘Sweetethands’ plant wants to fight more warriors that may prove to be impossible for him to get.
Wish list
– Edgar Berlanga
– Jerall Charlo
– Jaime Munguia
Plant has called New Yorker Berlanga for over a year unsuccessfully, but there has been no interest at the other end. Berlanga made a Fortune Fighting Canelo Alvarez, and it will take a smaller miracle to plant to get that fight. I don’t see that happen.
As rich as Berlanga is now, he will be even more selective at choosing his opponents than he was before Canelo blessed him. The only thing that might be persuading Berlanga to fight the plant is if Turki Al-Sheikh offers him lots of money. Apart from that, he will stick to fighting like Gabriel Rosado and William Scull.
Jerall Charlo (33-0, 22 Kos) has not fought in two years since his victory over Jose Benavidez Jr. in 2023. He has been seen work recently but he could be another one waiting for Turki to offer him a great payday to fight someone like Canelo. He will not take a risky fight against the plant coming out of a two-year dismissal.
Jaime Munguia was knocked out in his last match by Bruno Surace, and he is fighting him in a new match in April. He may be interested in fighting plant if he gets past that fight.
“I want the Berlanga match. I want [Jermall] Charlo Fight. If Munguia can work back and be something worth going for, I would take it too, ”Caleb Plant said to fight Hub TV about who he will fight next.
“That’s big on the list [becoming world champion again]. The only thing that is more important to me is just making big matches.
“I give him [Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez] A chance. Terence is eerily strong. He can beat. He has good crack. He can fight from both ways. Orthodox, Southpaw. He can fight on midrange, close range and on the outside. He can fight to go both ways.
Opportunities
Plant will probably have to lower its expectations and focus on someone like Diego Pacheco, Christian Mbilli or Osley’s Iglesias in his next match. These are the more realistic opportunities.
“It’s a big question mark at the end of it. That’s why many of us are really happy to hear that Bell Ring and be able to find out first, ”Plant said of Crawford.
The former IBF Super Middleweight Champion Plant (23-2, 14 Kos) kept his career alive with a ninth round of knockout by Trevor McCumby on September 14.
Plant was dropped in the fourth and wounded at another apartment by McCumby. If not for his ability to intervene on the inside, it could have ended badly for the plant.
