Gareth A. Davies doesn’t see Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury ever won another heavy weight world’s title before retiring. Of the two, Joshua (28-4, 25 kos) has a better shot because of his power, speed and willingness to continue to fight. At this point, AJ is the only one with any ambitions to try to capture another world’s title.
Fury (36-2, 24 kos) retired shortly after his second defeat against Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. Many people see this as another of 36-year-old Gypsy King’s short-lived false pensions because he likes money too much and he is bored by sitting in his mansion and getting fat.
Joshua’s next move
It is disturbing that Joshua chose not to take the immediate fight with Daniel Dubois after his fifth round-knockout loss on September 21. The longer aj waits, the less likely it is that he has a shot of avenging his loss to become a three-time heavyweight master.
Promoter Eddie Hearn had said that Joshua had some injuries that he would recover from, but it was a while ago, and it now seems he is waiting to see if Fury will get out of retirement. It’s not wise because Fury might remain out of the ring as long as he did after his fight against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
“If he wins a shootout with Daniel Dubois, he could again win another world’s title,” Gareth A. Davies told Secondsout when asked if Anthony Joshua can ever win another heavy weight world title in his career. “It’s hard to call. I will probably say, no, as if I don’t think Tyson Fury will win another world’s title again.
“I think we are witnessing a change of guard. Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma come through. Joseph Parker gets his last few options. I can’t see an appetite on these guys [Joshua and Fury] To go on two or three more matches. Maybe rage just one more.
“He suffered a knockout in September to Daniel Dubois,” Gareth said of Joshua. “He set out that he will fight Daniel Dubois and Tyson Fury in 2025. I would very much like to see him have a few more matches, but I think Eddie Hearn mentioned he is struggling with it. He is struggling with a comeback.
The fight to happen
Joshua had to take a stay-busy fight to stay sharp while waiting to see if Fury returns to the ring in the summer. If he doesn’t, AJ should take the fight with Dubois if he still has the IBF title. Daniel defends against Joseph Parker next month on February 22 in Riyadh.
“I don’t think he should go away right now. He has the opportunity to be in fantastic matches. I think we should see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. It’s a fight that ends the era. It would be a travesty if the two men don’t meet, ”said Davies
