Will Shakur’s glass hand hold up against Schofield?

Shakur Stevenson believes he is the “stronger fighter than Floyd Schofield after sparring with him recently. WBC lightweight champion Shakur’s KO rate is 45.5%.”

Hand injuries

Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) says he’s had hand problems throughout his career, limiting his ability to land his punches. His glass hand continues to be a problem as he recently underwent hand surgery.

In a video of Shakur working out, he didn’t use his right hand. It was the one he was operated on. If Stevenson’s hand falls apart against Schofield, he will be helpless and unable to fight him. He can’t run his way to victory like he did against Edwin De Los Santos and count on the judges to give him a win because he’s the A team.

“The only thing that makes him a threat is his awkward style. His offbeat rhythm, the jump in, and you just have to be prepared for that. But honestly, I don’t care about his kid. So I’m going to show it,” said Shakur Stevenson to Shawn Porter’s channel and talking about Floyd Schofield.

“I think it’s delusional,” Shakur said when asked why fighters think they can beat him after sparring with him. “He saw nothing when he was in the ring. He didn’t come out of the ring and say, ‘I think I can beat him because he came out of the ring and said I was the best fighter he ever had been in the ring with.

If Shakur doesn’t throw with power because of his crisp hands, it’s understandable why his sparring partners think they can beat him. If Schofield goes by what went down with his sparring with Shakur, it’s understandable why he feels he can beat him. It’s a logical conclusion that anyone would reach after training with a fighter who prefers a fragile, injury-prone hand.

“He DM’d me and said, ‘Brother, you’re better than anyone I’ve ever seen.’ He remembered how the sparring went,” Shakur said of his sparring with Schofield. “He remembered what happened, but I think fighters today have to be delusional. I think he is a little delusional and his father is delusional. They tell themselves that to hype themselves up, but I read between the lines.”

If Shakur couldn’t sit down on his punches due to hand issues, how can he call Kid Austin “delusional” for thinking he can beat him. It makes sense for him to think he can beat a no-puncher.

“I feel like I’m stronger than him. I don’t feel like he’s stronger than me. I think people get confused that I’ve had hand problems throughout my career. I think, honestly , that I’m a stronger fighter than he is,” Shakur Stevenson said.

Shakur sounds delusional here, saying he thinks he’s “stronger” than Schofield, because all you have to do is look at their previous fights on YouTube and you’ll find that Kid Austin is a much bigger puncher .
